What to Bring
Fishing license and halibut derby ticket. Fishing licenses can be purchased locally in Valdez or online at Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s website. Derby tickets can be purchased locally. Licenses will be checked during the check-in process when you arrive. Don’t miss out on the derby! Prizes are given out each week for the biggest halibut as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes awarded for the largest fish overall at the end of the season!
Warm clothes and bring a change just in case you get wet.
Rain-gear and boots.
Lunch, snacks, and beverages (feel free to bring beer and wine products).
Cameras, video cameras, etc. Phones are great for taking pictures (cell service for a good portion of the day). We are not responsible for phones or other electronics dropped in the water or water damaged, so please protect your personal belongings.
Binoculars.
Prescription and OTC medication, including motion sickness medication. Please do not bring ANY recreational drugs onboard, including marijuana. Although marijuana is legal in the state of Alaska, the Coast Guard maintains a zero tolerance at sea and we strictly enforce this regulation.
Sunblock and sunglasses. Just because you are in Alaska doesn’t mean that you can’t get sunburned. Being on the water increases your chances of burning and the glare can be blinding at times. A good pair of sunglasses will make certain that you do not miss any of the amazing sea life or scenery the area has to offer.
Face mask and hand sanitizer. Even if you are fully vaccinated, please bring a face mask in the event the CDC or local government changes the guidelines and a face mask is required by law at the time of your charter. There is a freshwater sink onboard for handwashing, but you should still bring along some hand sanitizer as our fresh water supply is limited.
