HALIBUT/COMBINATION CHARTERS

If you are booked on the “F/V Christie Lynnie” you will be departing from slip I-01 in the small boat harbor.  If you are booked on the “F/V Hooked Up” you will be departing from slip E-2 in the small boat harbor.

Our combination trips will depart the Valdez small boat harbor each morning at 6:00 a.m. and return to the dock at 6:00 p.m.  Please arrive at 5:45 a.m. so we can check you in and depart on time. If you are running late please contact us ASAP. Whether you are chartering individually or chartering the entire vessel, we have a 6-person maximum on our halibut/combination charters.

Upon arriving to our vessel we will check you in and verify that you have a current fishing license.  After everyone has arrived and is checked in we will have a brief meeting to ensure that everyone onboard knows where all of our safety equipment is located as well as what the plan is for the day.

Travel time to and from the fishing grounds is generally 2 to 2 ½ hours each way depending on weather.  We start our day halibut fishing. Once everyone has caught their limit of halibut we do not head back to the dock.  We move to a different area where our guests have an opportunity to limit out on the 30 plus different species of rockfish that are available as well as trophy lingcod when they are in season (usually after July 1st).

While it is rare, but not uncommon, if there is still time after we catch our halibut, rockfish, and lingcod, we may take our time getting back to the dock to take in the sights and discover the marine life. However, if our guests prefer, we can just head back to the dock a little early.  We like to defer to our guests’ preferences when this happens.

At any time during our charters we are more than happy to stop for pictures and to view the local marine life and scenery, so don’t hesitate to ask!

We supply everything you will need to fish, but we also know that some people are attached to their own “lucky” fishing poles or gear.  If you are that person you are more than welcome to bring your own gear.

Prior to returning to the dock we will contact our fish cutters and let them know when we will arrive.  When we get to the dock we will cart your fish up to the fish cleaning stations at the top of the dock where the fish cutters will fillet your fish for a nominal fee.  If you want to have your fish packaged, frozen, and shipped somewhere, there are a couple of local businesses that do this in Valdez: Fish Central (907-835-5002) and Easy Freeze (907-835-4208).  You can take your fish to them and they will take good care of you!

SALMON CHARTERS

We run salmon charters from the Valdez small boat harbor on days when we cannot fish for halibut.  Charters run from 6:00 a.m. until per person limit is caught or 2:00 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled charter time to ensure an on-time departure. If you are running late please notify us ASAP.  Whether you are chartering individually or chartering the entire vessel, we have a 6-person maximum.

Travel time will vary from day to day on our salmon charters.  We like to try to go where the fish are and that can change from day to day. If everyone catches their limit of salmon, we generally leave it up to our guests whether they want to return to the dock or do some sightseeing on the way in.
